Does anyone have recommendations for cotton diapers that are affordable and absorbent for a toddler? I need to stick to cotton (no synthetics like pocket diapers), because she has very sensitive skin and will break out. Dd is currently almost 19 months old, and a heavy wetter!
Thanks in advance!

Tea,
What is your idea of what you can afford? Are you in favour of making your own? I make my own out of cotton flannel. I make fitteds and fold cotton flats to fit. Or were you hoping to find some cheaper ones that are ready made?
I have some good sites that teach you to make your own, and others that teach you how to do flats if you like, if not I do understand.

Actually, I would love to make my own, but I can't sew , so it's out of the question for me. Basically, I have been looking at diapering websites and it seems as if many of the fitted styles are soooooo expensive anymore. I am looking for fitteds 1) because my older dc are having a really hard time working prefolds, and 2) I would like them to double as trainers when dd (who is 18 months old) gets older. Probably anything over $10.00 per diaper would be totally out of the question for me unfortunately. I am not looking at buying lots all at once, but more like about 6 or so at the most, and slowly building up from there.

Have you checked out diaperswappers?
Otherwise I ALWAYS wanted to order from Sweet Cheeks, her diapers are 100% cotton, and her prices are in Canadian funds, so your dollar goes farther. Sweet Cheeks She sells on ebay that is how I had discovered her lovely site. A 3-pack is $32.99 Exchange rate means $1 CDN = $0.77 USD

I was going to say Chinese prefolds, until I saw that they weren't working for you (do you use pins or snappis? My DH could never do pins, but could use the snappi no problem)
I would ask around to see if anyone has diapers they don't need anymore. I just posted to our homeschool list to sell my stash and got plenty of responses. Maybe if you have a local group, you could post a message asking if anyone has diapers they're looking to sell?
When I first started cloth diapering, I bought used diapers from ebay, but I know they don't allow that anymore. (Ok, I know that sounds gross, but used cloth aren't like used disposables. LOL.) It allowed me to try a few different styles at minimal cost. Snug-to-fits were my all-time favorite diaper.
Good Luck!

Actually I think that ebay has changed their policy again. Unfortunately others don't seem to know it yet.
Do you have Kijiji in U.S.? I think it works like Craig's list...

I was going to say prefolds too. :) I agree, fitteds have gotten crazy expensive. I use the prefolds and my 12yo can kinda sorta do ok with them. :) I use prowrap covers during the day and a wool cover at night. When they potty train, I just use the same diaper at night and during the day I use underwear or training pants from the box mart with nylon pants pulled over them. Forever and ever and ever and ever. Still potty-training my 4yo,

Orange Starfish has fitteds - and even a few all-in-ones - under $10.
And Cloth Diaper Clearance has all-in-ones from $10-$15 which might be cheaper unless you already have covers.

Thanks, everyone, for your responses! I think what I am going to have to do is just "make do" with my prefolds, and try once again to give everyone the Snappi tutorial. For some reason, no one but me really understands how to use them. I even have prefolds from Green Mountain Diapers, which are wider and shorter and perfect for Snappis! I keep at it
Thanks again!
