Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone subscribe to the Living Faith for Kidsdevotions?

We start each day with the daily readings and then read from either one of our Catholic readers from CHC or Seton.

I use a little list of the readings that is included in our Parish's bulletin each week, however it just dawned on me that this listing doesn't include the daily psalm.    I've thought about just reading them from my Magnificat each morning, but I really want my daughter to see that the daily teachings come straight from the bible. This Living Faith Devotional looks like it may be a handy guide - with each day's readings, a verse taken from the readings, and a little information regarding that day's scriptures. Then, the verses are just listed for us to find in the bible.

Has anyone used these? If so, are they helpful?

I have not heard of these...but have you thought of the Magnifikid? Or is that too young for your daughter?

I think Magnifikid is for the Sunday readings, with a couple "daily prayers" in it, but not the Mass readings. It's been awhile since I've seen it (we don't subscribe yet) and I just went to the website to look.

Diana~I just went to go look and I think it looks neat! Did you click on the Activity-Sample-Pages? Fun!   A couple months ago, I was looking for a "devotional" for my daughters, not a lot of Catholic ones out there, or they were too wordy or too adult-content. This looks good.

How old are your kids?

We did have the Magnifikid for about 2 years and my daughter just didn't like it (she is 8) - also it only has the readings for Sunday Mass.

I think the Living Faith for Kids devotional will be helpful - we can keep it with our Bible for our morning readings. Suzanne - I did look at the samples and they look just right - I'm just also wondering if the material is consistently orthodox and hoped someone who has used it can let us know.

This looks like JUST what I was looking for!!! Thanks for sharing! We do the Magnificat in the mornings. But I'll be honest, sometimes those meditations go over MY head, not to mention my kiddos.

Diana~I emailed a friend who used to have a Cath. bookstore and is familiar with so many publications. This was her feedback:

Quote:
While they do list some good contributors, their list of regular contributors has a few folks I do not think stick to authentic teaching.

It may have mostly good reflections and does have an imprimauter so if you decide to get it I would just read ahead of the kids.

Hope that helps.

We used Living Faith for kids last year - it was great - I had no problems with any material. It helped my 3 older children develop the habit of an individual prayer/devotion time. We only stopped because they now use my Word Among Us - and we have the Good News Planner too. We bought a subscription for each of the 3 older kids.

This is why I like it! We're using one of the Blessings Every Day books (not the Catholic one, though) but I think my oldest is ready to move on. I'd like something that follows along with the Mass readings.

Can anyone point me to the Catholic blessings every day book? I liked the look of the one Suzanne posted for my oldest.

I found these at a parish we went to, a couple weeks after we talked about them back in February. I have the Jan-Mar 2009 issue, if anyone wants to see it, i'd be happy to send it to you. PM me.
