I read Elizabeth's article this morning--"A Plan for A Peaceful Home." (It's really wonderful) It's funny how I'm drawn to those words..."Plan"...."Peace", because I know that they often times go hand in hand. (Just like I'm drawn to magazine covers that have the words, "Organize" "Lose 10 lbs." and "Easy Dinners." )
It got me thinking about morning offerings. I know that there is a traditional one that is beautiful all on its own. A friend of mine told me that his spiritual director encouraged him to write his own morning offering. I think that's a great idea.
Do you have your own, personal Morning Offering? Would you be willing to share it? Would you be willing to write one and share it?
Blessings,
DeAnn

Sign of the Cross
Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary, I give myself and my whole family entirely to you (name each member) and to show our devotion to You this day we, we consecrate to You our eyes, our ears, our mouths, our hearts, our entire being without reserve. Wherefore, dear Mother and sweet Jesus, we are Your own, guard us and keep us always as Your property and pocession. Amen.
Sign of the Cross
**************
DeAnn, I didn't write this and I don't know where I originally found it years ago (a quick google search didn't find it.) What I love about this prayer is that as a wife and mother, I include my dh and children in my first prayer of the day.
Love,

I use this one (from Holiness for Housewives)
I place the uncertainties of this day in your hands, Lord. Turn them into certainties that are bound to bring glory to you. For my part, so far as I can, I foresee the events that either appear on my calendar or simply happen in the ordinary course of routine. These, together with the unforeseen events, I offer to you. Bless also all the interruptions, the accidents, the pleasant surprises, and the sudden disappointments. I might not remember to pray to you at the time, so I now refer all these things to the glory of your name. Amen.

I've adapted one of the St. Anne prayers and a prayer I found on Jessica's blog and a traditional morning offering:
Dear St. Anne, you were especially favored by God to be the mother of the most holy Virgin Mary, the Mother of our Savior. By your power with your most pure daughter and with her divine Son, kindly obtain for me the grace and the favor of a day well lived today.
I offer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus my prayers, works, joys and sufferings. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of the Blessed Mother,Mary.
Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary, I ask God's continued blessings on my family.
Good St. Anne, please secure for me also forgiveness of my past sins, the strength to perform faithfully my daily duties and the help I need to persevere in the love of Jesus and Mary.
St. Thérèse, help me to always believe as you did, in God’s great love for me, so that I might imitate your “Little Way” each day. Amen.
The post on morning offerings is here.
ETA: I left out the St.Therese part. It's there now.

Besides the traditional morning offering, I have two Common Prayers written down & loosely memorized: Actiones Nostras and Domine Deus onmipotens
For the kids we use "A Morning Prayer" from Book 4 of Catholic Children's Treasure Box...also "A Prayer For The Night"...at night, of course!

Every morning when we get in the car, we say:
Lord Jesus Christ, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, we offer you our prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day, for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in reparation for our sins, for the intentions of all of our associates and for the intentions of the Holy Father for this month.
Then we list particular saints of the day, personal saints, and patron saints ...
pray for us
Then we do the Guardian Angel prayer to get us off on the right footing.
We're in the car every morning ( ) so this is our first time all together (and pretty much awake) and it's a great way to start our travels about.

This is ours too. It's memorized and taped to the bathroom mirrors so that's the one we use.

Mine is waaay more informal these days---
"Lord, I'm up. I'm out of bed. Take this day, and make it work. Please"--if I am lucky, there is an Amen on the end...usually, just a lot of pleases. Ahem.
Its not long, but I can easily remember it when I am jumping out of bed and getting dressed and heading down the hall to take care of the screaming boys who sound like they are being ripped apart by rabid wolverines.

Dear God, I give you this morning.
Please take away my despair of yesterday.
Help me to forgive the things that caused me pain and would keep me bound. Help me to begin again.
Please bless my path and illumine my mind.
I surrender to You the day ahead.
Please bless every person and situation I will encounter. Make me who You would have me be that I might do as You would have me do.
Please enter my heart and remove all anger, fear and pain. Renew my soul and free my spirit.
Thank you, God, for this day. Amen.
(With my son, I say:)
Good morning dear God, this day is for You. We ask you to bless all we think, say and do. Amen.

I have two:
Morning Prayer:
My Jesus, I offer this day to you-all my prayers, works, joys and sufferings and, through you, I make this offering to our Father in heaven. Be with me through this day in all its particulars and assist me that it may become a worthy offering in every way.
For a Happy Married Life:
Lord, bless and preserve my cherished husband, whom you have given to me. Let his life be long and blessed, comfortable and holy; let me ever be a blessing and comfort to him, a sharer in all his sorrows, a consolation in all the accidents and trials of life. Make me forever lovable in his eyes and forever dear to him. Unite his heart to mine in fondest live and hiliness, and mine to him in all sweetness and charity. Keep me from all ungentleness; make me humble, yet strong and helpful, that we may delight in each other according toyour blessed word. May both of us rejoice in you, having our portion in the love and service of God forever. Amen

I say this one, then the traditional offering that Mary posted, and then a simple prayer I cobbled together:
"Lord, may everything I do begin with Thy inspiration, continue with Thy help, and reach perfection under Thy guidance. Help me to follow my Rule faithfully and to do all things for love of You. Blessed Mother, make me a holy wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and servant, and keep me from all sin."

I consecrated myself to the Immaculate Heart using deMontfort's methods as a Freshman in college and as such have been using this one recommended somewhere in their literature from years ago:
O Mary, I am all thine and all that I have is thine. Keep us under thy mantle of mercy and protect us as thy children. Bring our souls safely to Jesus in Heaven. Purify all that we give to thee and take it to Jesus that He may use it to save the world and souls. Bring this day to completion in accordance with the desires of thy most pure heart. Amen.
I am not sure it was presented as a morning offering but I certainly use it as one.
Great thread!

Great Inspiration Ladies!
Thanks so much for your beautiful responses.
As a convert I have really come to love these and other beautiful, vocal prayers. Sometimes--especially when sleep-deprived or stressed-- I just can't come up with the right words. It's nice to lean on those much holier than I for inspiration.
Maybe this should be another thread, but are there any other prayers that are a part of your repertoire?
I love the "Litany of Humility" and Blessed John XXIII's prayer that begins with, "Only for Today."
Blessings,
DeAnn
