Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a group/groups for a 14 year old boy. He is currently in the Legion of Mary and attends the bi-weekly bowling nights, but I was looking for something that had a more spiritual direction sort of edge to it. Has anyone had any experience with Youth Apostles? I wondered what they did etc? Also, any other ideas would be apprecitated. He is sort of bored, doesn't have any friends and I thought it would be a good time to encourage him in thinking about his future/vocation etc. Thoughts? Advice?

Does your local K of C have a squires program? Ours doesn't, so I don't know how spiritual it is.

I guess 14 is a bit old for Blue Knights, huh? And I'm guessing you have decided your parish's youth group is not what you're looking for.

Sorry, that's all I've got.

Is there an Opus Dei Prelature near you? They usually have Father-Son programs and programs for young men.

Thanks, Anita, I will look into that.

He does go to youth group events such as bowling, trips to amusement parks etc. since we have very good and holy priests who go along with the group and good chaparones etc. I guess I am thinking about making sure he has a lot of support spiritually (and his siblings coming up behind him) for the tumultuous teen years that lie ahead. (Hopefully more smooth than mine were!) So, I was just trying to plan in advance since he will be in high school next year. I tend to want to stick my head in the sand about a lot of stuff and realize that is probably NOT a good approach to kids growing up. So, trying to prepare myself for the inevitable ups and downs and the growing pains for the kids. (and the parents as we have to watch them grow and eventually let go of them. )
