Thank you so much for the many prayers for my son, Jonathan (3) with leukemia - and progressing so well - and my mother who was diagnosed last summer with aggressive metastatic breast cancer just on the heels of my little guy getting through the worst of HIS treatment. My mother Elsie has also stabilized very much (though not out of the woods) and is doing well considering - very well considering! Please keep them both in prayer for the long haul. It means so much - the knowledge of the women praying here is a lifeline to me!!
I would particularly like to ask everyone to pray for our good friend Lexie - a young teen girl we know from our family-based religious education program through our church - who was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma about 6 months before Jonathan was diagnosed with his leukemia. It was a terrible shock when she was diagnosed but she has been doing so well. Well, Lexie has had a concerning CT scan. We are storming Heaven for Lexie to continue to be cancer-free and to put the whole ordeal behind her, and we beg all of Jonathan's family, friends and supporters to please do likewise.
I'd also like to ask for special prayers for a little girl from the ALL-KIDS e-mail list ( a list of 500 or more families who have children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia). Hannah is a little girl who was diagnosed at nearly age 3, and now at age 6 had relapsed, against the odds. She is one of only about 10% of children who relapse with the type of ALL she has, and is having a very, very hard time, particularly she is having trouble gearing herself up for another, harder fight.
Of course, childhood leukemia is a huge medical success story in many ways, but Hannah's situation of course hits home because she is one who, with an otherwise good prognosis, the initial treatment still hasn't been enough to cure, and now, 3 years after the initial diagnosis, and as a totally aware 6-year-old, she is having to start all over with a harder fight. It is truly heartbreaking, and her family is asking for her inclusion in all prayer lists.
You can follow her situation here:

I know that we could have a whole blog dedicated to asking for prayer for each and every child with pediatric cancer of every kind, and the many other struggles that children and their families have. We need to keep all children with cancer and their families in mind and prayer. Remember that for every Hannah and every Jonathan, there are many families struggling.
Thank you so much and sorry for such a long post.
UPDATE: Thank you all so much for so many prayers!! Great news for Lexie, the young girl with lymphoma - her tests all came back and she is still CANCER-FREE! Praise the Lord!
Little Hannah, the young child with the leukemia relapse is having much more trouble and is now needing a bone marrow transplant, and in particular a DONOR!! Please pray, and please also pass along the following info in case anyone you know somehow somewhere is a match for this little girl. Thank you!
"Hannah, a six-year-old little girl in Rhode Island, was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia on Jan.5, 2006 and relapsed Feb.2,2009. The family is looking for a bone marrow match for Hannah-Please Help!
Hannah may need a transplant and a "marrow drive" is being planned. No Matter where you live you can help by visiting or calling:

Here is the latest update from Hannah's Caringbridge website (http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/Hannahw).
"Hannah's counts continue to demonstrate that her current [chemo] regime may not be sufficient. It has been another difficult day as Mom received the news that none of the tested family members are a [bone marrow] match for Hannah. The RI Blood Center is planning a marrow drive in March and we will pass that info along as soon as we have dates and locations. The doctors have moved her "big chemo" day from Friday to Thursday and if the results are not fruitful they will be moving towards bone marrow transplant. Mom is understandably frightened and discouraged. Hannah is weak, tired, and in continuous pain. She was started on a morphine pump today in order to get a handle on her pain and hopefully she will begin to feel better. Please continue the prayers for Hannah and her family. No matter where you live you can join the bone marrow registry and be considered for a match. It is a simple swab inside the mouth (no needles) and takes about 5 minutes to do the paper work. Hannah is being run through the registry and currently there is no match. For more information visit:

Thank you for your prayers and encouraging messages."
