Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I know her feast day falls on a Sunday this year, but I made this coloring page for my daughter who chose St. Josephine as her Confirmation saint and wanted to share it with you.

St. Josephine Bakhita Coloring Page

You can see the original here.

Thank you for both the coloring page and sharing with us how you celebrate this feast day. It is important that I share with my African-American children the stories of saints who look like them and I love the coloring page and ideas. Thank you also for not shading in St. Josephine's skin. It seems like a small thing but it is very frustrating when the coloring pages with dark skinned people are shaded.

Waverley,
It didn't even occur to me to shade in her skin but now that I think about it, you are right. Most coloring pages with dark skinned people are shaded. I would think, simply from a practical perspective, that it wouldn't give the colorer much to color if her skin was already colored for them. I hope your children enjoy it. St. Josephine has a special place in our hearts.
