Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have these typed up in a Word document or on their blog that I could take a look at? I've got lots of questions and would love to "see" how this is put together.

One big question I have is: How many seasons do you have a year?

TIA

Monique - I usually do meal plans for Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer. I use my Simply in Season and other cookbooks from the library - as well as ideas from the forums or from blogs that I see. (just discovered Pioneer Woman - yum yum yum). My rotations are fairly loose so I don't have a fixed shopping list - but I have master lists for my main grocery stores and then on a Friday when I decide on the meals for the next week from my rotation plan - then I go and fill in the shopping lists.

My ideal and goal is to have my recipe binder organized by season - with meal plans at the front, followed by shopping lists, followed by typed up/copied recipes. Unfortunately - my recipe binder right now is just stuffed with things i have printed or copied or written out - not ordered and very untidy - so it takes me time to look for things

Good news - after weeks of no appetite - I am starting to feel hungry again!! I think it was looking at all those yummy things on Pioneer Woman's site.

Let me know if you want me to email you anything. I have plans on my blog - but not shopping lists.

I was just going to post a similar question. I just want someone else to do the meal planning for me, make the grocery list for the month/season (we're switching over to liturgical season here as well) - I'll do the shopping and the food prep, but my creativity is shot when it comes to the kitchen! I love doing it, I've just never learned (hope my mother doesn't read this!)

Regarding the seasons: I'm looking at Advent, Ordinary Time Winter, Lent, Ordinary Time Summer, Ordinary Time Autumn. That's 5 for us, but I might have to break down Summer Ordinary Time some more, so maybe we'll end up with 6. My hope is to have menus planned for each season based on liturgical calendar, seasonal produce, etc. Then make the seasonal grocery lists. Then I don't have plan ever again! Ok, wishful thinking, but it will be a huge start. I'll know there is variety within each season yet I'm considering the availability of items and that feast days are accounted for.

But if someone has done this, I'll pay you for the information!

I have a breakfast/lunch/snack/dinner menu for Fall/Winter/Spring/Summer. Dinners change nightly for the week, breakfasts, snacks & lunches follow a MWF/TuTHSat pattern (sometimes I'll have the meatless items only for Fridays), and Sunday is the same pretty much all year long for everything but dinner. So, throughout the seasons we have 28 different dinners, and roughly 8 different breakfasts & lunches.

It's the first year I've done this, and it allows me to shop in bulk, and *occasionally* prepare in advance/freeze, and the kids actually look forward to what's "coming up" the next season (or, alternatively, they don't have to "put up" with a less desirable menu item for very long!)

pm me if you want a copy of my 4 menus! Warning: I'm not terribly creative, rarely cook from scratch (although lots of the things we serve COULD be done from scratch, probably much tastier!) and not as healthy as we should be...those things aside, lots of comfort foods!
