Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Well, I go in to see the ob today. *sigh*

There's good news and bad news.

The good news is that I may still be able to have another vbac. So far so good that it will go that way.

The bad news is there is exactly 1 hospital where I can do it and I have to go through hoops the entire pregnancy to meet their criteria for it - otherwise I would be a c-section.

Now, I mentioned to my dear ob (who is one of only 3 ob's in my entire county still doing vbacs and is okay with me having another one) that no one can force me to have a surgery against my will. Right?

To which she agreed, but pointed out they could force me to pay all of my expenses without benefit of insurance should I go that route. As the insurance companies will not cover the hospital or the dr. unless these critieria are met - those parties would be fully entitled to come after us for 15 - 20K ballance.

Out of curiosity, I spoke to a midwife (which really isn't an ption for us anyhow - but I was curious) and asked about what midwifes are doing and she said they are in a bind a bit too. Granted many of them do not carry insurance like drs. and aren't reimbursed by my insurance company anyhow, so I wouldn't have as big a payout. But many of them are not taking VBAC pregnancies either (including this one who has been practicing in my county for over 16 years) because IF something did go wrong they risk losing their license when the patient shows up at the hospital.

So , back to square one for me.
