Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have an opinion on the "old" or "classic" version of Math U See (intro/foundation/intermediate/advanced) vs. the upated version (primer/alpha/etc)?

I don't have the updated but I have the older version. I can tell you what I did and did not like about the old MUS if someone else could tackle the updated version.

DON'T DO THE CLASSIC VERSION!!!!!!

I did the classic version for about 6 years......and now the new one since it came out........is that 4 years?

I was just telling our friend yesterday.....who recommended mus to us......she has a masters in math and teaches.......how much I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the improvements in MUS.

The classic version is not set up well in comparison.......and TOO teacher intensive.

The new one has a much better balance.

I am VERY opinionated about this ........it is like using a washing board vs a washing machine.

My children all prefer the new format...........they fixed all the little bugs that both of us had trouble with.......

we have been using mus for 12 years, I guess, doing the math ...........and this is with SIX kids.....from primer/alpha up to pre-algebra

our current math "tutor" says my kids are strong enough to go from Zeta to Jacob's Algebra....so, I have no experience past pre-algebra......that is what we have done

and I have NO time to be writing this.....I am supposed to be packing....but I HAD to let you know what *I* think

it felt like a "moral" responsibility

let me know if you have other questions!

Chari, how do you REALLY feel?

Thank you for being so honest about your opinion...I have an opportunity to buy the Foundations/Intermediate sets at a pretty good price (I think) but will order the new ones piecemeal if they are that much better.

Get the new ones....he improved the fractions and one other area (can't remember now) in the new ones and they are so much better now. They are also great for different speeds of learners vs. the old ones- there are 3 pages of lesson practice on just that lesson, than a few cumulative review pages. So for the fast math whiz they can just do a page or 2, but there is plenty for the child who needs more practice.
