I can't even believe this, but this year, I am stymied as to what to get my husband for Christmas. Usually I'm so prepared by now that everything's wrapped. We're moving in about 3 months, so I don't want to get anything too big, too expensive, or too breakable. I thought of buying him an insulated coffee mug for the car (you know, those stainless steel thingies?), but the cheapest ones out there are about $25.00...for a MUG!  That's out. The only other thing I can think of is Bailey's Irish Cream because we both love just a splash of that in our coffee or hot cocoa. But it slightly sickens me to give liquor as a gift (both of his parents were alcoholics before they died). 
He has clothes and gives away perfectly wonderful things (I often adopt them or store them in Rubbermaid tubs for when my oldest will grow into them). And he never gives clues.  What should I do?
Does this ever happen to you?

It seems like husbands can be the most challenging, sometimes!
Does your husband have to drive a lot? My dh's commute is short, but his car seat is terribly uncomfortable, so I'm thinking of Massaging seat cushion
Bed Bath and Beyond always has good coupons, so the price isn't as painful.
One year, I got my husband an old fashioned shaving cup with a brush. He really liked that (till the brush fell apart and we never replaced it  ) on the weekends, when he could "enjoy" shaving a bit more.
I'd like to hear what others are thinking for their dh's.

This is a good thread. I bought my husband a DVD (for $10) of The Magnificent Seven (ultimate guy western). There are a lot of movies out there for under $15 and they don't take up much space.  Also, Flylady has "clutter free" gift ideas. This page has ideas in all price ranges for Men (there are other pages too).

Why are men so difficult to buy for?
My husband asks for running shoes for his birthday and Christmas every year. Blah! This time he also asked for an IPod because he has a 3 hour commute every day plus he likes to listen to music when he runs. I splurged and got it ($100) because I know that my parents are sending him a check, and he will only use it to pay bills. I figure this way, he has a good bill to pay. 
My friend bought her husband Swimming with Scapulars.
How about surprising him by planning a date? I know we always need that before a move, but we rarely make time for one.

Tina, you can buy the insulated coffee mugs way cheaper than that. I would try Tesco or one of the other large supermarkets. Argos have a set of two for £10. Woolworths might be another option.

My husband's only request from me this year is a commuter mug that does not leave him with cold coffee by the time he arrives to work. He wishes to have one that plugs into the lighter. Overstock.com had a set of two for $20 or a single one for $14. Shipping was only $1.

Hi again,
I only have a second, but I wanted you to know that there are deals to be had with the mugs -- I saw some pretty good deals on ebay too. I also thought of personalizing the mug with a photograph. If you google or search on ebay for the keywords: travel, mug, photo* -- you'll see. (Make sure to check the feedback on ebay before you order.)
Also, my husband helped the kids make me a nice, inexpensive present last year -- your husband might like it. He got a large frame (held 6 4x6 photos) with a lot of "matted" area. Then he had them paint all over the mat (you could do hand prints or whatever). Then he put pictures of the family. It is very nice.

Jen L....thanks for the flylady men's gift page! I'm getting inspired.
One idea I really like is a gift of favorite foods that are taboo most of the year because of price or calories.
How about a "date-night" certificate for 2 steaks, shrimp cocktail and a bottle of yummy wine while the kids stay with a friend or relative.

Thank you, ladies. I checked overstock.com...lovely mugs, but they don't ship to APO addresses.
The massaging seat cushion sounds intriguing ... maybe next year. This year, I bought UpWords, a Scrabble game that goes vertical as well as horizontal. He always boasts how he beats me at Scrabble. Should be challenging, even for him. 
I was considering a GPS for car navigation help. We are forever getting lost! I need help from him with choosing the right one. I still need something special, just for him, but I don't know just what to do...
But he does need something that all of you might give: prayers. He's looking for a post-retirement-from-the-military job. He gets awfully busy every so often rearranging his resume to suit this job or that one (I tell you what, I am *not* missing being in the workforce). And he's a little concerned, since retirement looms on the near horizon. I think we're moving some time in March.

You could give some nicer coffee than he usually drinks to go with that mug idea. . .a more gourmet kind, or an assortment of different kinds.
