Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Today ddd15 told me that she wants to study American history this term. From the very beginning, discovery, War of Independence etc.

Can you help me with booklist recommendations for the older child? Perhaps you could recommend some booklist websites. I do have a few American books but they are mostly for primary age.

Currently my headspace is full of booklists and plans for our study of Australian history and it's a little difficult changing tracks.

HI Erin,
I'm pointing you toward the MODG American History and Literature booklist (pdf). Be sure to look at the second page under "Supplementary Materials", which gives the books according to time periods. If you have Laura Berquist's book, there may be more suggestions in the 9th grade section.

HTH,
Valerie

We use this list quite a bit too...
I have to tell you though...
I looked at the subject of this post and I thought that this information would be great for our future. Then I remembered that my twins ARE 15! I think I need some coffee...

God love you!

Valerie

Thanks for the list
I'm also trying to decide which would be better for a spine, Anne Carroll's Christ and the Americas or From Sea to Shining Sea; keeping in mind this is not a year long study although this child easily reads 2-3+ books per day.
