Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I wish I had a camera so I could show you the way my house looks right now! Please tell me this happens to you too!

I just came downstairs for lunch and was met with cereal on the floor, toilet paper strewn everywhere, toys, etc. Oh, and the whole bag of carrots that I tripped over in the foyer??? There are also cracker crumbs everywhere??? (Maybe I SHOULD put a door on the kitchen and lock it???) I have been doing "upstairs" school today with the bigger kids at their desks in their room taking exams while I try to catch up on the laundry after having my washer/dryer set out of commision for the WHOLE weekend due to problems in the laundry room. (Birdsnest in the dryer vent AND a cracked pipe all at once!)

I asked my husband what he thought since the laundry was all wet (i.e would probably start molding) from having to clean up so much extra water from "the flood" after the water pipe broke. Then there was school etc. I felt overwhelmed before I even got out of bed. He suggested doing school in the bedrooms etc. so I could be available to the school kids, but I could also work on the laundry emergency. What a great idea!!! Anyway, it "seemed" as if all the little kids were upstairs with me most of the time, so how did the whole house get trashed in 3 hours!!! I don't even know where to start AND the laundry is still piled high in about 5 laundry baskets!! Is this typical??? I guess I just have to laugh at times like this!

oh my.. yes, I've definately experienced that type of thing. No upstairs but I've been working along and had the living room completely clean and the kids were busy in their rooms and then I move onto the kitchen and even as little as 15 minutes later walk into the living room and it looks like a bomb went off

Isn't there some physics principle about stuff moving into a vacume? that might apply here?

It definitely sounds like my house also! --On most days--I think the kids follow behind me-just out of eyesight-and wreck things!

Usually when the mess upsets me it's because I was upstairs or out for awhile and walked back in on the chaos ,instead of having the chaos grow around me in a way that I didn't notice . You know that analogy of a frog boiling if you put it in a pot of cold water and then slowly heat it up? Well, you jumped right in to the pot of already boiling water and that's why it got to you! Better to simmer slowly!

Chris,

The frog boiling analogy is a perfect fit for this case scenario. I had been up there all day, answering questions, folding laundry with at least most of the girls running around me, etc. So, it was an all at once thing. The thing that surprised me the most was the VAST streams of toilet paper strewn all over the downstairs which is just the type of thing you see on t.v. after college parties or something!

I took about an hour during/after lunch getting things swept up, rolled up etc. and it is fairly decent finally just in time for Dad to arrive home and not question what we do all day!!! (PARTY!! )

What is it with toilet paper? I tell you I have this toy thing alll wrong..

things to do when you buy in bulk...
you can have more fun than those who don't...

like how about playing with an entire pack of 24 toilet paper rolls?

"gee mom they unfurl so cool when i fling them at my brother when we play bunk bed wars"....
I didn't know such a sport existed...sigh!

Isn't it someone else's turn to play the roll of responsibility? ...no pun intended. It was my turn last time and I really would like to know what it is like to read a whole paragraph of school work in one sitting. I could swear that someone found some chocolate somewhere (and didn't share with ME!!)...they are all jazzed up and I am wishing my post-partum body could actually handle caffeine!

God love you and Happy Monday all!

I'd really have to agree with the pot/frog analogy. Its always worst when I leave the house, and the children, with DH. I come home, and it is as if NO "chaos reduction measures" have been taken AT ALL the entire time I was gone.

Of course, I could be gone fifteen minutes and things would be a wreck, so 3 hours...ugh...
