Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Is your classroom off-limits?

Our classrooms keep getting "trashed" by young friends who are understandably interested in what's on the shelves. Today I actually locked one of the rooms before visitors came.

Most definitely off-limits. Occasionally I will bring out things that we have used for school, one at a time, if a particular interest is there, but not wholesale rummaging through school stuff...I have a hard enough time keeping it organized with just us using it! :-)

We don't have any specific "classroom", but I go around the house and pick up whatever I don't want to get torn apart/played with roughly, and lock it up in my bedroom till our guests leave. I just can't expect my friends' kids to respect our school things (microscope, montessori works, abacus, etc) with the same careful behavior that I expect of my own children, so locking it up when they are here just seems the most practical.

Oh, yes. Ours is downstairs so it's easier to keep off-limits.

Most definitely. I know the older kids get interested in the books we have, but I've had make it off limits when a big group comes over. If it's one family, it's not a big deal. I just wish I had doors to close it up completely.
