Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Those of you who have "graduate" homeschoolers...

What are they doing now? Attending college? Working? What are their career choices?

Three graduates -

Luke, has Honours in History and Politics ( Bachelor of Arts), works full time as a research and electoral assistant for a Federal Member of Parliament, is on his Parish council, on the local council, active in politics, studying part time for another degree - Economics/Law.

Gregory, has a Bachelor of Arts in French and the Classics, studying part time in law but will probably do Honours in French next year, also active in politics, works as a research asst for a politician in the State Parliament House.

Nicholas, studying for his first degree - was doing Sciences, has changed to Communications and Asian/Pacific Studies, works full time for a Federal politician, also active in politics!

Oldest ds is married, with a 3 yr. old and is a 911 dispatcher. He's received 2 awards and enjoys it but he is always putting in applications for patrolman with PDs around here. His problem is no degree, because he quit school after barely 1 yr (he quit homeschooling a few weeks into 11th gr. too, when dh and I allowed him to get his GED and work...he's always preferred working).

Ahhhh...2nd ds. He graduated a couple of years ago and wanted to go into the military but has had an asthma attack since he was 13, which prohibits his entry (although I'm constantly encouraging him to go all the way through the application process just to see). He doesn't want to go to college either. He was a horse rider and top 4H .22 shooter for our county; neither of which really translates well into a career . He like working also, so hopefully he'll find something he likes enough to complete trade school or apprenticeship soon.

Elizabeth is in her sophomore year at U of Dallas, getting ready for her spring semester in Rome. She's finding out that she loves to travel and has taken advantage of several great programs (including ISI's Honor's Fellows program). She's an English major with a Classics concentration (and is considering a double major).

And is a delightful young woman . She spent time with us when she was in England during the summer and was a great advertisement for homeschooling graduates .

Thanks, Kathryn! It's a thrill when other people enjoy Elizabeth as much as we do.
