Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Have you noticed that silhouettes are all over the place these days? I am seeing them in all sorts of decorating mags and the blogoshpere. I remember that my mom always had ours done at Disneyland. Anyhoo, today I followed a link from Elizabeth's blog and found these silhouettes (you have to scroll down to the middle of the post) and I gave them a try. They are so cool. I took a profile shot of my youngest, printed it, cut it out carefully and then painted it black. Easy Shmeasy! I think it would be best to print them on card stock to make them sturdy. I can't wait to do more! Way more cost effective than a trip to the Magic Kingdom too.

Oh, they are so cool, aren't they? I tried some too! They turned out great.
I did it a little differently though. I painted the cutout cardstock of the girls profile shots (printed smaller, like a 3X5 size) a rich brown color, glued them to antique cream paper and put them in 5 X 7 frames like these to make them more like cameos. It might have even been better to make them even smaller.
My mom loved them when I gave her sihouettes of the girls for Christmas.
Now I think I'm going to make more for myself!

I did a silhouette tutorial a little over a year ago - it' still one of the most popular posts on my website.
