Two days ago I got out of the shower & began blowdrying my hair. The dryer it got the dirtier it felt. The crown of my head was matted and felt soapy, as if I'd used a bar of soap to clean it. I washed it twice more looking for improvement, switching shampoos each time. I got a slight improvement. I went out and bought a clear shampoo for this morning. The shampoos I was using were opaque. Today I used the new bottle and was much happier, but my hair still does not feel clean.
Also, I've been on well water for almost 4 years, but if this is a factor, I'd have thought it would have appeared before now. I use very little "fancy" products on my hair. Just shampoo and conditioner. Maybe hair spray 5-10 times/year (really). I switch shampoos frequently to avoid build up and increase volume (read VERY thin hair).
I've been surfing and the suggestions I've found are baking soda paste or a vinegar & warm water solution. Has anyone ever tried either one of these? I'm so unhappy with my "dirty" hair I've got to do something. I'm going to try the baking soda tonight.
Thank you.
I'll post my results.

this is good to know!

I keep a bottle of the Neutrogena anti-residue formula shampoo on hand for when my hair feels icky. It works great and I love the way it smells (most scented stuff bugs me, but not this.)

Product will always buildup in your hair. I am also a stylist, for perms back in the day we would use 1/2 and 1/2 of baking soda and shampoo. This will take any residue buildup. It could be your hair texture has changed and the combo of well water and shampoo just are not aggreeing with your hair.

My point do that mix once a week.

an acid.. vinegar or lemon can also help with mineral buildup that can happen with well water. We were on a well one time that had such heavy iron in the water that we couldn't use it except for cleaning.. and not for clothes (went to a laundromat). And my hair being blonde really showed the build up. The hilarious thing was when we did a home perm on my hair.. the solution on my hair turned purple but it ended up removing the mineral build up on my hair not dyeing my hair . Using the lemon juice really did help to slow it down though.

Be careful with these because they can also alter your hair color, even if you are not blonde and if you are and do this on a regular basis it can also create a problem when you color it.
It strips the hair of natural oils it needs to be healthy.

I wash my hair about once a week with bs mixed with water and then finish with a acv and water rinse. My hair has never felt more healthy and had more volume and curl. The other days I just rinse with water. Glad you found a solution.
