Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have one of these this year?

I tried to search but my timesearch kept running out.

It's a very creative idea and my children have fallen head over heels in love with it...even the ones who are "in the know".

I've seen those, I hadn't known that they have that little story to go along with them.

They caught my eye because I remember elves very very much like to that one in looks.. my grammy had them with her Christmas decorations.. and they wore different colors.. one red, one green, and I'm thinking there was a third in another color but perhaps not.

But what a fun thing.

We have one--only the elf keeps forgetting to move every night!    So we decided that he lost some of his magic due to all the fussing between siblings, and in order to get it back, we have to be extra good! (Good one, Mom!)

My Grandma had some of these elves when I was little--I loved them.

My youngest daughter asked me this afternoon, "How many days til Christmas, Mom?" When I told her "nine," she said, "Oh--I better hurry up and be nice!" lol

Here is a link to a local friend who used to make these out of her home. She still may. We were able to have the luxury of a home delivery of our elf, Rudy. She creates a letter specific to your family including any pets and favorite foods. The elves are boys or girls and have a very unique quality we just fell in love with. My dc just can't wait until December and the arrival of our elf. Just last week he was so mischievous that he toilet papered the kids room! What fun we have with our little elf.

You know I saw this on someone's website (I think Chasing Cherrios). Anyway, on a whim one night I made one out of a toilet paper tube, wrapped it in felt, made some hair, and topped with a felt elf hat. I named her Nana Elf and told the boys that she'd be somewhere different each morning either with a surprise or with a message to remind them of something they forgot to do (putting boots away, for example).
THEY ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!!!! (EVEN THE OLDER ONES)

I've only given them 2 prizes so far all month (beeswax colors to share and today a super challenge dot to dot book and they'll get beeswax to model next week).

I think it is a great idea and I love that it took so little effort to make and they still like it. Generally I get a little too perfectionist about things like this and spend a ton of time making something and have it flop. So, this really makes me happy.

Give it a try!

We have the Elf on the Shelf and the accompanying book. Our elf, Cocoa, joined us last year and the boys have just really enjoyed him. Every morning they are up super early to go see where he landed. One night we forgot to help Cocoa move and they were a little freaked out. I like the idea of him losing some magic b/c the kids were not being as good as they can. Our elf wrote the boys a note to let them know that he decided to stay behind the door of the entertainment unit b/c there was going to be some strong winds that day . We really like our elf and I'm looking forward to many years of fun with this tradition.
