Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hello all!

I was wondering what you all were thinking of getting your little ones for Christmas? I'm looking for ideas and know you all have great ideas.

I have a 3.5 yo (who tells everyone she is "almost 4") and an 18mo who thinks he is 2.5

I'm thinking of a dollhouse and some Catholic books for our girl--she is a girlie girl to say the least...

But for our boy, I'm a bit at a loss...baby toys seem too babyish, but everything else is "3&up"...

Any good ideas?

What do your children really enjoy?

God Bless,
Maggie

When my boys were that age, balls, cars and big blocks were hits. Also pop up playtents. My 8yo still uses the one he got when he was 13 months.

I love almost everything at Nova Natural and they have a lot for both age groups you're looking for.

My little guys at that age loved cars, blocks of all kinds, Playmobil cars and fire trucks (actually all things Playmobil), wooden car garages and construction toys (Plan Toys has a great set!!), castle sets, play spaces (tents, pop-ups, etc.)

My 2 1/2 year old started liking Thomas the Tank engine at 18 months, and he still does. Also cars, balls, blocks, and anything Little People. And he started letting his sisters dress him up at that age, too. Luckily they were kind to him and only made him into a pirate or knight . (I'm making him his own dressup set for Christmas).   He likes his little tool set too.

Last year we bought our ds (who was about that age) cars & trucks from oompa toys. Also block sets were a hit.

For my 2.5 year old son I bought three small "Playmobil 123" sets from the Playmobil website--they're the toddler version with fewer, bigger pieces. He loves his little "guys" and plays with them daily. They mostly fit inside the regular Playmobil vehicles and houses (which my older children have quite a few of) so that is a bonus for us--not too babyish.

He also likes trains, balls & sticks (golf, t-ball) and playing outside. How about a new toddler swing? If you have a flat, paved area, you could get a tricycle for him.

I have a 4 yr old and got him this Touch game for his bday and I highly recommend it. Everyone likes to play it and you can make it easier or harder, shorter or longer. Plus it is great for sensorial skills.

Touch game

He also loves the big melissa and doug puzzles.

At 18 months it seems like knobbed puzzles and great fun. I got my son one of those mats you can write on with water for xmas. He also loves making music. Melissa and doug have a real nice set of wooden instuments too.

It is kinda hard to think of new things to get the littles b/c there is so much left from their brothers. At about 2 they can work a sit and spin and this is great fun for several of years. I'm actually going to make some wooden "people" out of a dowel I got today for my littlest. I couldn't find a set I liked and I want to have one to represent each of our family members. I think they will work good for smallest to biggest work too.

I don't know if your children are into pretend play but this year our 3 littles are getting a wooden marketplace (www.blueberryforest.com/kitchen_grocery_play/selecta-basar- play-store.htm).    They have played for years with this marketplace at a local natural toys store and love it - it can be a kitchen, a marketplace, a book store, and once even a doctor's office. It is expensive but they are only getting the market and one other very small gift and both DH and my parents are contributing toward its purchase.

Good luck!
