Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Some things in our school are not working, and I'm changing our history curriculum and adding a geography lesson (grade K-3).

But... I want to wait until January, instead of doing 2-3 weeks, having Christmas time off including a trip out of state, and then trying to pick it up again. I thought it might be fun to do a unit study of sorts on Christmas Around the World or other Advent/Christmas themed unit. Unfortunately, I procrastinated and now have little time to pull it together/weed through the bad.

What's worked for you? We love lapbooks, too, but I don't think I have time to order one. We'll be keeping our math and spelling curriculum, and we are doing a Jesse Tree for Religion this month (along with all of the feast days!)

Our library around here isn't great, online resources much appreciated!

Thanks for any links and helps!

I've done xmas around the world a few yrs ago when my older 2 were younger and am repeating with my 4 yr old now. Merry Christmas Everywhere (our library has)is the perfect book imo. They give a brief explanation of what various countries do, have a little craft to do, and have a world map on each page showing where it is. I selected a couple from each continent and am doing a continent each week until xmas (combining Asia & Australia). It helps to show them how the climate of the area affects their customs.

I think this will make a nice springboard for geography in Jan for you. It will give them a general idea of the continents.

Have fun!

merry christmas everywhere
