Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Do you have pictures of your child size Mass kit in or out of use? I'd love to see them! Also, did any of you make your own Mass kit, altar linens or vestments for your children? I can't really sew, but at I have been thinking about putting together a Mass kit for them. Otherwise we will probably buy the one from Our Fathers House as a Christmas gift for our 4 boys ages 6 and under.

St. Joseph Altar in Minature

We have the altar kit (you'll see it in some of the pics) but you'll also see that we do a lot of "making do with what we have".

Thank you all for sharing! I am very inspired to buy a Mass kit for my boys this Christmas. The pictures are all so lovely! Your children are all so blessed to have such wonderful resources and parents :)

Cay, it was so fun seeing those pictures of your girls! How sweet!

Suzanne, What a wonderful tabernacle! Great idea and it's nice to see the children were involved in making it!

Jenifer, that altar is just absolutely wonderful! Does your brother-in-law make more to sell or take orders? Goodness! The thought he put into it just melts my heart!

I have one more question! Do your children take their Mass kits often, or is it only used to teach lessons now and again?

Susana - My brother, Chris doesn't make the mini-altars for sale.    He made that one for me based on my description and my request. He's really an amazing artist and as you can tell, a master carpenter. Our celebrations throughout the liturgical year have been blessed in many ways through his gifts of carpentry to us!!! I'm trying to convince him to start a small cottage business, but he insists that he enjoys creating only every now and then - turning it into a business would take the joy out of it for him.

And...to answer your question....my children work with the Mass kit all.the.time! In fact, I haven't even done any Mass presentations this year (I'm really ashamed because they've been asking...the time thing and there's only one of me gets me every time). Still, they take the mini altar out and get out a small booklet called Know Your Mass and work the Mass kit all by themselves with little or no help from me. It is a big favorite around here. BTW, a medium sized plastic bin was our mini altar before my brother rode in on a white horse delivering our wooden mini-altar and it worked just fine and was completely covered with the altar cloth (and was far more portable!!!)

Jennifer, it's great to know your children use their kit often! Makes me that more excited to get one for our children. How blessed you are to have such a talented and loving brother! :)
