Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We finally have a mantel and this year I really want to do Christmas stockings for the first time!
Of course, I'm too far behind to make any at this point(what with trying to make other gifts too), but I'd love to have beautiful classic stockings with names on them maybe? And not too expensive to get four?
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to look?
Thanks in advance!

Oh, and I'm not too into the shiny, polyester-y, sequiny, beady look . . .

Have you look at Lands End stockings? They have a special for 3 or more.

Or Pottery Barn Kids? I have made my own stockings, but the PBK are so tempting to me!

We love the ones from LandsEnd. They usually have a few new options each year and some patterns are no longer available. It has been fun for us as we add to our stocking collection.

Yep, all of ours are from Lands' End, too. They are beautiful and very well-made.

I found a woman who makes them and we absolutely adore our stockings. We even bought a matching tree skirt! Check out Aunt Joy. Not sure what she can do in the short time frame, but these stockings are truly heirloom quality. And her service is out of this world. One of the letters fell off a stocking. I shipped it back to her, she fixed it up and sent it back in record time. I recommend Aunt Joy to everyone I meet. When she answers the phone she asks you to call her Aunt Joy!

we made some last year from felt -- inspired by these. the seams are blanket-stitched, so this year we're reinforcing them with machine-stitching, so I can put in heavier stuff.

We get ours from Michaels or Hobby Lobby and stitch, iron or sew on extras to personalize. They usually run about $5 each I think and are the basic felt ones like Stef's.

We do big stockings because we open them on Epiphany (so we have all that after Christmas shopping and pricing! ). Anyway, I've made mine with fabric and a cross-stitched cuff ... but now I do just knitted ones.

What you might want to do is a simple felt stocking (even shrinking a wool sweater/blanket and cutting out a stocking shape works), add a white cuff and glitter-glue each person's name or stitch it or whatever ... these really wouldn't take much time as you're just doing a name on the cuff.... You can always add (or change completely) each year ...

I do a felt stocking.. I put fake patchwork on them (cut out patches basted on and ribbon glued around the edges) and use seam binding around the outside edge so sewing them together is really simple.. and I did the white top with a fuzzy blanket.. they're rather old fashioned looking and not glitzy. the only shimmer or shine or such on them is the satin ribbon.

And they don't have names on the outside.. I do have them labeled on the inside.

I have a couple from Lands End too. And, a couple needlepoint ones from ebay. There are lots of beautiful needlepoint ones on ebay, if you know what you're looking for.
