Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm compiling a list of middle ages stuff to do with my 9 yo ds, who wants to study middle ages (won't start till after xmas!)

I need to make it a short list, with the very, very pick of the crop, b/c he never seems to have an attention span to do these things for too long---so, I wondered, what has been your family's FAVORITE resources for this time period?? There is just sooooo much available! When I did this w/my other son he was older and a much better reader so the books I had for him have too much detail and don't really fit.

One of our favorite novels for this time period was Otto of the Silver Hand (get the edition with the engravings).

My childrens fave. activity was the medieval feast- hands down! We made trenchers, had roast chicken, tumblers of 'wine' etc.

Don't know if this will help you narrow it down to the "favorites" but there are some great ideas and resources in these old threads:
