Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I vaguely remember reading that if you are using pine cones, to put them in the oven for a short period to melt the sap and kill any bugs or things.

Am I imagining this? Does anyone do this? Do you find it necessary? If you do, does it make the pinecone easier to handle (aka, not sticky)?

I haven't done many crafts w//pinecones, but I remember my Dad saying they would open more when they warm. I don't remember him saying anything about sap and bugs, but I find it believable.

This link suggests to either wash or put the pinecones in the oven to kill bugs and remove sap.

I am wondering if this might be good for acorns as well. We gathered acorns this year to later realize that we had brought in some "friends" as well!
