Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

The guest speaker I referred to in the gratitude journal post also mentioned this which I found very profound....

A hummingbird and a vulture fly over the same field. The vulture sees all the garbage while the hummingbird sees the flowers.

It really reminded me not to get bogged down in the garbage of life. We need to accept it but not dwell. I don't want to fall in the trap of Pollyanna or rose colored glasses but I think seeing the beauty around us is so important.

So that's my deep thought of the month , what do you think?

Excellent -- now you have 10 days to rest and then need to come up with one for Dec!

Not to be really , but I've heard that the way vultures feed their young is to partially digest the food themselves and then vomit it into the mouths of their young. (Is that right? Theresa? MacBeth?). Anyway, if that is true, *my* deep thought of the month is that if we think like the vulture thinks, we aren't nurturing our children with anything very positive or good. Attitude is SO contagious -- and that is a fact that I have to keep much more in front of me than I often do.

Peace,
Nancy

Great visual, and a positive thought. I've been trying to steer into more positive thinking lately. But of course, I'm a work in progress.

It struck me as funny that you posted this right after the post reading "but I've heard that the way vultures feed their young is to partially digest the food themselves and then vomit it into the mouths of their young."

But yes, it is a nice metaphor for seeing the cup half-full.

Lindsay, so glad you said "cup half-full" and not "mouth half-full"

HAHAHA okay I have too many boys and their humor can be contagious!

Definitely a "bird's eye view" I will keep in mind for years to come.

I think it's penguins that do this, but I'm sure many other birds do it also. Ah, what a momma won't do for her little ones....

You can definately see the good without falling

I'm very much an optimist. But I can be very realistic as well. You look at the bad and what you can do about it reasonably (so that you don't hurt yourself if the bad doesn't happen) and then you just focus on the good.

In your hummingbird thought.. perhaps it's paying enough attention to fly around the garbage to get to the flowers.
