We checked this book out from the library a few years ago and loved it. We just checked it out again and this edition seems abridged. Wasn't there a incident in the story where Tomie and Nana Upstairs eat chocolate ex-lax and have to spend the afternoon in the bathroom? That wasn't in the book we just brought home. Or maybe I'm thinking of another dePaola book altogether??

That story is in Twenty Six Fairmonth Avent[/url], not Nana Upstairs, Nana Downstairs. Some of his biographical stories he made into picture books.
