Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have any recommendations for on-line purchasing of Fire Escape Ladders (from a window)?

Or maybe feedback about the different types that are out there now or things to be aware of?

We have a Kidde Fire Escape Ladder. I've never tried it out, since it is a single use ladder. Hopefully, I'd not ever need to use a fire escape ladder but once, if at all! That said, I can't give it a critique.

One thing I do suggest, is keeping a baby sling or other carrier right with the ladder, for children that are too little or too scared to go down by themselves. It would be almost impossible, given the size and position of our upstairs windows, to lift and carry a child down a ladder without a carrier of some sort.

This is a timely question! This afternoon, while out shopping, I called my husband to let him know I thought we should buy an escape ladder.

During my internet searches, I've focused on the material & width of the rungs for easier stepping and the material the sides are made of.

For example, I see a potential for extra problems with the chain on this ladder. My daughter's hair getting caught or simply the grip of holding the chain in an emergency....vs. the ladder that Lisa shared.

Lisa, I never thought about having a sling to help carry my youngest down!      Thank you for sharing that.
