Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

How can I put my mind in a charitable state or igore it when others are talking during Mass? The worst time for me is right when we return to our places after Communion, and I'm attempting to pray, and I get distracted already by the music, and the chatter tempts me to anger at a time I should be in peace.

Most families at our parish are respectful, but sometimes people surprise me, and I hate to get up and move during Mass.
Any ideas?

The practice of custody of the eyes can also extend further to custody of our thoughts. I, too, have difficulty in this area and have learned to simply offer up my distraction for the sake of souls who do not know, love and adore our Lord as He should be known, loved and adored. It also helps me to focus on the fact that I ought not allow such distractions to turn my own thoughts away from our Lord during such a sacred time, when all thoughts and attention deserve to be given to Him. Rather than physically moving away from objects of distraction we can pray for our hearts, minds and souls to be moved closer to Christ. While others may be drawn to chatter with one another during Holy Mass, we can choose to speak with our Lord, even about the things that vie to turn our attention away from Him...surely He understands, since He is the Object of all mankind's wounds, insults and neglect.
