Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm seeking a gift idea for my husband's brother, single, who left the Church and attends no church.
The one idea I had was the audio version of The Innocence of Father Brown that was in the Ignatius Press catalog.

I could get him clothing or gift cards, but I saw this and am wondering if that would be too much Catholicism for him (he would probably get offended) or is it mostly mystery with the Catholic themes tucked away so they get in the mind by accident, so to speak?

Any other ideas? I like to buy gifts that have a religious theme when possible but that's tough for relatives who have stopped going to Church. (Also tough for a god-child whose parents no longer go to church!)

Edited to add: He likes science fiction, technology, computers, and modern type art. He works in the medical field.

Kelly,

Maybe something Lord of the Rings-themed? LOTR has a Catholic world-view but is not explicitly Catholic. As for Father Brown, my atheist mother loathes Father Brown, and she loves mystery "cozies." Fwiw, I wouldn't get Father Brown mysteries for him.

I personally have been learning a lot about Islam and the jihadist threat. (The more I learn about Islam, the more I dislike it and the more I appreciate Our Lord. I don't think there are two more unlike religious leaders than Our Lord and Mohammed.) Perhaps a book by Robert Spencer?

Ot perhaps a history book or history dvd's?

In Christ,
Deborah

A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter Miller Jr.

Great Sci-Fi read with explicitly Catholic overtones... but not enough to scare away a non-believer.

I like to stay away from directly religious gifts for non-Catholic friends/family because it comes across to them like I'm preachy or overzealous. But things with undertones... things that make them think... that's the goal!
