I have four tabs open - one to CNN, one to Fox, one to 270towin, and one to google. I keep refreshing and comparing etc.

NO
It will just make me nuts.
I'll see how long I can stay away from it all.
But...I will be praying.

I've been praying the Priests for Life prayer for elections for so long I can't remember when I started. I am watching results and trying not to worry.

as soon as dh gets home a few of us are heading to the adoration chapel .
I AM heartened to see the popular vote so close, with McCain even in the lead on a few sites..

Me, too, Stephanie. I can't watch. I'm going to scrub my kitchen floor to get my nervousness out.
I'm just waiting tomorrow to either drown my sorrows or raise in celebration a large cup of Diet Coke. And champagne if it's the latter. But prayers is the operative word tonight. Memorares over and over, mostly for peace and resignation at whatever happens.

Me too. I've been on my knees all day. I'm not watching...which is saying a lot...I'm a FOX news junkie.
I'm nervous...I'm not sure I even want to turn on the tv in the morning - think I'll follow Jenn's lead and go clean my bathroom and scrub a toilet or two and then breeze through a few catalogs and make some Christmas lists. Offering Memorares all night long.

We are glued here to all the channels. We are filling in the election map from Enchanted Learning. I am anxious as living in IL has taught me...we riot in the good and bad. I am so hoping for a peaceful night for everyone. Lots of prayers here...
God bless America...the land that I love!

I have prayed and stressed all evening. I am heading off to bed - nausea is taking its toll. My wonderfully optimistic children are still watching and coloring in their maps and singing Lee Greenwood.

I was glad to see this post. I had been on a media blackout today but now I looked, saw the sad news, and cried. I feel sick to my stomach. I guess tomorrow I will start working on my emails to friends about the evils of the FOCA so that we can start emailing elected officials. The only hope we have is to prevent this act from getting to Obama's desk when he is in office.
God please help our country!

I'm with you Kari, I feel sick to my stomach, too. I am heartened though by how close many of the states were in the popular vote. Unbelievably close here in VA.
Maybe, as a whole, this country has gotten a little too complacent and now its time to take our prayers to a new level.

Kari, you are so right! If you know of a group that is organizing anti-FOCA activity, please PM me. It's the only way now.

It is so important that we pray for a change of heart for many ... for FOCA and other issues ... change is the keyword here!
Prayers need to start now for the culture of life and the need for sanity and human rights (altho I do hear chickens are now safe in California )... anyone have a good prayer to post?

Let's focus on the good (since there is so much not good we could focus on) Prop.8 passed in CA, FL, and AZ!! How do we as a nation get things like banning partial birth abortion on the ballot, so the people can be heard?

I have a renewed devotion to protecting the unborn. After last night, I'm more determined than ever to do all I can. What can we do to stop FOCA?

How about calling our pastors and expressing disappointment that no guidance was given to Catholics from the pulpit re pro-life issues (in our church anyway)
How about calling our diocese/bishop's office and requesting that more effort is made to educate Catholics on the teachings of the Church on abortion and life issues? Maybe putting pressure on them to forget their tax exempt status from the government and speak the truth from the pulpits?
