Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

For me. I think I have another kidney stone. Horrible timing at just about 30 weeks pregnant. UGH. I've passed two previous stones on my own - just little ones. They do hurt, though.

Could I ask for your prayers. I have a lot to do here and really don't want to be held up by this thing. The headaches are quite enough without this, too.

Blessings,

I also suffered a kidney stone when I was pregnant with my first child. I can completely understand the pain and frustration. I pray that it passes quickly.

I am discovering that this is not uncommon. Apparently, the body can be more prone during pregnancy. Extra hydration is essential - geez, who needs to pee MORE during pregnancy?

Interestingly, my stones have all been associated with my boys, the last two were after birth. I tend to eat more protein, chocolate, and interestingly, grapefruit with my boys. I never really paid attention to the latter. It turns out that all three foods (among others like concentrated tomato products, nuts, dark green veggies, rhubarb, beets and jams) can contribute to stones, or calculus, in the urinary tract.

So the best course of action appears to be uber hydration, bedrest, and pain relief for now. And avoidance of troublesome foods. Bummer. I had a totally chocolate snack this afternoon. And today is All Hallow's Eve... There go my Reese's PB cups...

I can get through this. I know that The Pea is alright, and I've been through 5 labours and deliveries with no drugs. I can do this, too. I just hope it passes in a few days and doesn't hang around for weeks...

Thanks again for all your prayers!

Blessings,

Praying for you, Nissa. I hear lemon juice in water, or real lemonade, can be helpful for kidney stones.

Thank you all so VERY much for your prayers and sacrifices. The stone appears
to have passed. The pain I had yesterday was the end of it. I am much more
comfortable today, but tired.

I'd had some soreness there for several days, but yesterday was the kind of pain
that makes you shake, and perspire, and cry. Around tea time, after a lot of
hydration and some rest, I could feel the pain start to actually move from the
kidney, through my abdomen. Then that was it. Another small one, nothing like
the size I'd heard some folks tell about in emails to me. YIKES!

I'm a little tender today, but feeling normal. This is a call to watch what I'm
eating when I'm pregnant with boys. I crave all those things that make pregnant
mommies (or anyone) more prone to calculus build up. Those things, in case you
are interested are: meat, chocolate, dark green veggies, beets, rhubarb, and
grapefruit. I'm all about meat, chocolate and grapefruit with my boys. I don't
understand it. With the girls it's always dairy and fruits.

And I need to make absolutely certain I'm drinking enough water. The headaches
should have been the warning shot. Sometimes I'm too busy to pay attention.

But thank you all again for your prayers. I know that they helped this thing
move through more quickly - praise God!

And The Pea thanks you, too. he's happy as a clam in there - wiggling all
around and sticking his feet up under my ribs.

Blessings,

Oh, I'm so relieved you are able to recover and rest now, Nissa!

It's so easy for me to see when my diet needs attention one way or the other, but putting it into practice sometimes requires more resolve than I have to give...the spirit is willing but the flesh (my flesh) is sooooooooo weak! I'll add my prayers that you are able to have heroic fortitude (which I would need to give up, or even restrict chocolate) and perseverance in order to remain attentive and faithful to a healthy diet for you and The Pea!
