Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Here's the Nesco dehydrator we use ... we've made jerky, dried fruits, herbs and fruit leather and it's plenty big enough. We could get extra trays to expand but haven't needed to yet.

I like that the motor is in the top so things don't drip on the motor (and the motor seems quieter) My SIL has this Nesco one for her family of 10 kids, but I don't think the extra money is worth it.

Nesco is definitely the brand to get ... they last for a long time, are expandable and easy to clean.

I did a lot of research on this last year. Most every place I read recommended the Excalibur. If you have a large family and are going to make large quantities and use it often, I think this one is the best. It comes with some nonstick mats that you can use to make fruit leathers (like fruit roll-ups)

Hope that helps,
DeAnn

Deann -- is this the Excalibur dehydrator you're talking about? I'd have to dehydrate a WHOLE LOT to make that reasonable cost.

I don't have any experience with the Excalibur, but I do like the price and usefulness of the Nesco that we use.
