Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My dd12 wants to set up a "Mary Magdelen's Perfumery" for our All Saints Party, so we're going to blindfold participants and open containers, one at a time, under their noses for them to guess and win a prize.

So far, our ideas are a halved orange, a peeled hard-boiled egg and pine needles. Can you help with some other ideas? We'd like to have six things.

Thanks so much!

Theresa had a post the other day about a great way to play a smelling game.

Scroll down to the part with the salt shakers.

What a great idea to use this for an All Saints Party.

How about cocoa, coffee beans, baby powder, pepper, peppermint/mint.

Also we like to use essential oils on a cotton ball if you have any. Rose would be great since there are so many saints associated with roses.

I agree with Mary about the oils. We have found that oils work best because they hold a longer and stronger scent and unlike a powder you can't actually sniff them up your nose.

Put the oil on a cotton ball or balled up tissue or paper towel. We just open up our spice cabinet and use what we have there - usually vanilla, almond extract, lemon juice, vinegar, etc.

Have fun!!

Thank you for all these great ideas! Some I already have in my pantry and I'm headed out to the grocery tonight with a long list--hopefully I'll have success finding them. Nothing like waiting till the last minute! Thanks for everything!
