How do you do school? We have been sick for about 3 weeks now, passing the germs around to each other. Myself being the Mom, can't afford to be sick but I am and I am exhausted. The two youngest of my children are also sick and I cannot sleep at night because of all the coughing between the 3 of us. On ocassion 1 of them will throw up also. I have done everything the Dr. tells us to do, but with no avail. My 2 other duaghters are starting to get sick also Can anyone relate?

Lots and lots of DVDs!
Sorry to hear your family is all sick. That is never fun.
Seriously, I just take it down a few (hundred) notches when we're all feeling yuck. We do lots of reading since we can all just hang out on the couches for that and it requires little of me. That may not be great for you right now with coughing though, so maybe find books on tape and do that. Then you can watch the movie when you finish the book.
Maybe do a health focus, explaining germ prevention, why the doctor tells you to do whatever it is he/she is telling you to do, and watching Magic School Bus Inside Ralphie (my almost 7 and almost 5 yr. old love this one).
If you take the time now to get well, you will be the better for it IMO. You will catch up on school.
Big to you and your little ones!

Yes, I can relate! We seem to have a very bad cold/sore throat circulating through our home. Started with dd and now that she is clearing up, my oldest ds is coming down with it and today dh said his throat is aching. I seem to be staying healthy as well as my ds (who goes to public school). What to do?
I think that we will have a light day today! I will keep you and your family in prayers.

Well we are still sick, some more than others. Myself being the worst. I think I sprained a muscle underneath my ribs from coughing so much. It hurts so bad, I went to the docs and the x rays showed that around my lower rib it is really tender. I just want to start school but I can't get past the pain. Anyways keeps us in your prayers, I can't see us getting better anytime soon. But at least we are keeping our spirits up.

yep! all had horrible colds. the kind with fevers, splitting headaches, not able to function, etc. even little maria would cry with a headache! then I got Pneumonia and a sinus infection from it.
we all felt better for literally 48 hours, had ONE! good day of school, and then the stomach bug set it.
this is the every 48 hours someone new gets sick, so we are not out of the woods yet!
I am so sorry, and am praying for you and your family.
I find myself being short on patience with everyone, and am also feeling that fear creep in of it being a long, sick winter. I have pretty high standards of illness control, but how do you handle the large homeschool gatherings where you hear a child say their little brother was vomiting all night long?? (and is at the gathering?? )
or the situations where you hear a child violently coughing, with their nose just oozing yuck, if they were in school they would be sent to the nurse/sent home, but what if the mom is right there and is ignoring it??
just venting

PS, I bought the Sign of the Beaver DVD from ebay for 1.99, and the kids watched that since I could not do the read aloud thing anymore Fits of coughing every sentence was making it drag on forever!
I could tell I was really sick because I did not even care that they were watching a movie, not listening to it on audio!!
hang in there
