Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

At what age should I begin the Pink Series? I am thinking about age 4, but am not sure. I don't want to push it too soon, nor wait too long. How do you decide when to start? Also, are the Pink, Blue and Green all completed by around grade 1, ideally?

It depends, of course. I think the pink series should be started once your child has worked enough with the sandpaper letters and knows enough sounds to form simple words, and it's very helpful if he/she understands the concepts of beginning, middle, end.
As far as completing all three series, my dd is still working on the green and she is late 1st/early 2nd grade. Some kids will finish it earlier, some later.

There are a few ways to know when to start; it's different for every child:

1) Put out the work and see if the child shows interest
2) Observe that the child knows a lot of sounds and is interesting in writing/reading
3) Try a Pink Series work with the child and see if it "clicks"

Usually the child has completed the Pink Series work and "mastered" it (which means they understand it and can do it on their own) by first grade. But, that is not always the case. Often, first grade is spent doing Pink & Blue, then Green Series in second grade.

Keep in mind that a lot of kids do pink, blue, and even green series work in preschool without actually mastering it - they may complete it incorrectly much of the time, or do it with help from a teacher or another child.

That's why elementary teachers often start with pink series anyway, because the child hasn't internalized the concepts yet, even though they've done a lot of the work.
