Can I just say that I HATE (and I do not use the term lightly) dealing with health insurance companies?
Did you know, when Sarah goes to the specialist tomorrow, since it is out of network, it will not be covered? And any tests he requests? Not covered! And if he says she needs surgury? NOPE! OUT OF NETWORK, so sorry, not covered!
BUT - if she waits until a kidney stones passes, and lodges into her ureter, and then it ruptures - well, then it will be an emergency so they will cover a portion of that?!?!
Or we can fly her home, get seen by specialists here, have her surgery, and hope they can do it all in a few weeks so that she can somehow fly back and catch up with all her classes because she has to remain a FULL TIME STUDENT or else...wait for it....she WON'T BE COVERED cuz she is over 18.
 
I need a nap.

Laura, I understand well the craziness of insurance companies. I'm so sorry it's so hard on you and Sarah.
Not to make light of your situation, but dh says that on Judgement Day, there will be a separate line for insurance people. Just saying.

I used to work in Medical Billing...I can totally appreciate the inanity and injustice of it all.

Some of the most frustrating moments of my life have been in dealing with insurance companies . I'm so sorry you and your daughter are going through this right now. I will keep you both in my prayers!

Laura, I'm so sorry...gosh, shouldn't there be some sort of "out of state college student" waiver, blah, blah, blah...It doesn't make sense to leave college students uncovered (Oh, there I go again, trying to make insanity make sense .) Could someone at the college help? Praying.

Laura,
I'm sorry about your problems with insurance. Why does it have to be so frustrating? I have been dealing with insurance woes as well. We found out that prenatal isn't considered preventative care. Shouldn't that be illegal? I'll keep your insurance battles in my prayers. Stay strong!
