Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Haven't heard of this before, but I read some of the reviews at Amazon and they looked pretty good. I just checked our library and they have all 4 books in the series, about 3-4 copies of each and none are checked out, so they're not exactly flying off the shelves! I reserved the first one to check it out and see if they're worth reading.

This does sound good, but unfortunately our library doesn't have it (which may be a good sign ).

I'd be interested in others' opinions?

OK, I"ve looked into the book a bit, just the first 25 pages or so. It's not terribly exciting, although it seems typical for juvenile fantasy. However, so far I've come across this:

(this is a 12 yo boy waking from a nightmare)
In the dream he had used the forbidden magic once too often and the Priests of the Dark Flame - opposers of all that is magic and magical- came from their temples to slay him."

I'm not crazy about the way it's thrown magic in there with the opponents being the dark flame.    I haven't read much further so I can't say for sure how things go but I don't think I'll be introducing the series to ds unless i have time to read more of it.
