Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have favorite sites for coupons? I'd like to start using them and gathering tips etc. to make a serious dent in our grocery bill.

Thanks!

This post lists a few of the sites I visit regularly for deals / coupons / freebies, etc.

Another is Coupon Divas.

All of these sites have sidebar advertising to coupon sites, as well as links to more money-saving sites.

I've been able to cut our grocery bill by watching the ads carefully, planning meals, writing lists and then matching up coupons. It's a lot of work, but I've seen the results. Many stores locally double coupons up to $1, which helps.

I'm also lucky that there are 5 grocery stores within 5 miles of me, so I do visit multiple stores to get all the deals in a week. If I had to travel farther, I don't think I would bc the savings would get eaten by gas money.

Melanie,

How do you decipher between the cazzillion sites for coupons? I understand to make sure "manufacturer" is on the coupons and to stay away from sites where you have to buy coupons.

Thank you for sharing your favorite sites!

You're welcome!

To be honest, I don't print very many coupons from the 'net. I will sometimes, and I stick to well-known places like coupons.com.

Another thing I forgot to mention, I sign up at everyone's website. I just got a big pack of coupons from P&G from a survey I did a month or so ago, I receive a magazine full of coupons from Kraft, I just signed up to receive a pack of coupons from Betty Crocker. I have one email dedicated to surveys/etc. so I don't get overwhelmed, but I do check it regularly because sometimes they send printable deals as well (like Bertolli sent a printable coupon last week.)

And then I try to share when I can. For instance, I use Huggies so I share Pampers coupons with a friend who uses Pampers. Sometimes a few moms and I get together and dump our coupons in the middle of the table and we go through and take what we need.

Another thing is I try to combine manufacturer coupons with store coupons when possible. If Target has a Target coupon (OH! they're another one that sends out coupons if you sign up on their site for their RedCard, I think. I'm not sure why I got the booklet?), they will take the Target coupon plus the mfr coupon on an item.

What is the difference in prices from using coupons and those of "Dollar Tree", "Dollar General" or any other dollar store?

I keep a price book so I know what the best deals are. For instance, our dollar store will have cake mixes for sale, but often the grocery store will run a sale for 70 cents.

My price book keeps track of the most-purchased items, costs at different dates and stores, and breaks down cost per unit. This allows me to know the "best" deals. It takes time to get a price book going, but it is very helpful once it's done. I started with just a few items each week, and built it up to include more as time went on.

I hate to sound errr simple minded, but exactly how did you organize your book so it's not a big list of everything?
