Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

...Make good neighbors?? I am trying hard not to take it personally, but we just got new neighbors behind us and the first thing they are doing is putting up a privacy fence . In my head, this confirms all my worst fears that my yard looks like a dump and my kids are ill-behaved. I'm a little sad this morning.

Blessings,
Bets

Bets,

I wouldn't take it personally. For all you know, they had decided on a fence before moving. Maybe they want to get a dog. I would like a privacy fence where I live, but they are not allowed. It has nothing to do with my neighbors or the woody area out back; it would be nice to be able to send my son outside and have him contained, as it were. I also want to get a dog in the future so a privacy fence would be ideal --- if it were allowed.

In Christ,
Deborah

I wouldn't take it personally. Where we live now (Arizona) 5-6 foot block wall fences are the norm. Personally, I love knowing my kids can go out and play without the worry of wandering off and that our dog can go outside with no worries either.

Maybe I'm just a little bit private, but I appreciate the barriers. My parents live in WI without a fence and it's such a hassle to tie out their dog.

I like my neighbors just fine!! But I also appreciate being able to enjoy my backyard without interacting with anyone else.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with you. Some of us are just wired to crave privacy (Me! lol). I don't care if my neighbors are the nicest people in the world, with the most beautiful landscape, etc. I still don't want to see them everytime I go outside.

I'm another of those craving privacy. Suburbs with the small yards just make me uncomfortable. We're not allowed privacy fences, one of the downsides of our neighborhood. We have a fence, just not privacy.

So I also wouldn't take it personally.

You could think of it as though they are actually blessing you with the gift of privacy for your own family...you will be benefitting from their act of putting up the fence, without any of the expense or trouble of doing so on your end. There have been times when we would have been very grateful if some of our neighbors had done us such a favor. Enjoy your new little enclosed haven.

Maybe they like to sunbathe naked.

Wish my teeny-bikini-wearing neighbor would be so kind as to put up a privacy fence!

It's not about you, your yard or your children. I have wonderful neighbors, but I still have a 6' solid wood fence. Please don't take it personally.

I second what everyone else has said. I love having my fenced backyard. It contains the children.
