Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I love swaps. I was inspired to create a Rosary Bead Swap by the many women I know who make gorgeous beads. For details on the swap, including a sign-up link, please see this post on my weblog:

Nissa,
You know, I would really LOVE to do this, but after looking over the instructions, I really feel insecure about doing this alone. Too bad we can't get a rosary making circle going..
Where does one find the beautiful beads and crosses?
I am still interested

Stephanie,

There are lots of places to get beads and findings - at a variety of prices. Start with these:

Rosary Workshop (they have some GORGEOUS enitque reproduction beads and findings)
Lewis and Co.
The Rosary Shop (has instructions for several types of rosaries!)
Bill's Beads (he has lots of unusual findings)
Auntie's Beads

There are loads more, but these are my favourites to start with. I also have a jewelry finding supplier that has really, really gorgeous (lots and lots of semi-precious) beads, and super nice wires.

HTH!

And don't worry about asking questions - once you've learned how to make them, you'll have a ball!

Blessings,

Bump! Just a reminder to sign up for the swap if you're interested. One week to go before sign-up deadline.

I just wanted to mention that vintage rosaries are perfectly acceptable. I'm not sure if that came through clearly in the original posts.

If you would like to participate, but are a little unsure about making a rosary, this might be a better option for you. You can sometimes find absolutely gorgeous old ones at the flea market or antique shop - and they're often much less expensive than you'd expect. In the case of a vintage one, maybe you would enjoy giving it a good polish, and making a pretty soft bag or envelope pouch for it.

HTH!

Blessings,

Nissa,
Thank you so much for giving all of us this opportunity. I will not be taking part, but I am very grateful for the links and inspiration. I will attempt my own Chaplet, and if things work out I may take on grander ventures in the future.
Thanks,
