I'm measuring 26 weeks at 22 weeks along. My dates are absolutely certain according to my charting and U/S confirmation. We'll do a routine GD draw in a couple of weeks, but I've never had a problem before. And no chance of twins (I don't think) since they've done 3 U/S scans and saw only one.
Anyone here measured large for dates? Just a weird flukey thing for me - I've always measured slightly small for dates or spot on...
Blessings,

Nissa, I always measure large for dates, and we always suspect twins! :) At 11 weeks I measured 17cms. At 16 weeks I measured 22. I first did this in my 3rd pregnancy, at 18 weeks I measured 26, and we thought for sure there were two babies. Granted, I have been known to have nearly 10 pounders though. I have never measured over 42cms at the end.

my midwives always told me it has everything to do with how the baby is lying, and they (three midwives, 2 different states) never take much stock in the measurements.

I measured larger with most of my pregnancies, but only about a week or two. I had GD with my last baby, and he was 9 lb 13 oz at 39 weeks when he was born. I do have larger babies, though.

I measure large until near the end. I also tend to have bigger babies.

I always measure big, at least 3-4 weeks big. I also have 10 pound babies and I am only 5 feet tall. For me, there is no place for that baby to go but out! Your bundle of love could just be all out front this time. GD is also a possibility, but I imagine you eat a pretty whole food diet anyway.
Blessings,
Betsie

At my 18-week appointment a few weeks ago, I measured 21 weeks. But my ultrasound last week showed a baby growing right on target.
I remember measuring a couple weeks ahead with my daughter too, and she was born just under 7 pounds and I didn't have GD or any other complications. I'm average height, but I do have a fairly short torso, so that could be part of it. I carried my daughter all out in front, and this baby seems to be the same way.

Never large.
The only one I measured "off" for was #3. I consistently measured 2 weeks behind. The dr. was tempted to send me to Baton Rouge for more specialized testing but, since my belly kept growing with each prenatal check-up, he didn't push for it.
He did prepare me for a 6 lb. baby.
Four days early, I delivered a 9 lb/11 oz baby boy.

I measure big by a couple of weeks or more with all mine. I do have babies on the larger side and even from the beginning they measure big on the ultrasound.
I measure big on the outside too. Partly because I make these enormous placentas. The staff has always commented in the delivery room.

Thanks ladies! My last babe (Louis) was 10lb, so maybe we'll just have a big boy again. Hopefully, he'll keep his hands back where they belong instead of trying to wave like a politician on the way out. Ouch!
Cay, I'm stunned at how far off your doc's estimation was - surprise!
I'm tellin' ya... If this boy weighs anything close to the 12lb. Brian keeps teasing me about I *will* name him Napoleon Dupre (an old family name on his side).
Blessings,

What a cool name! I only measured large for dates once. I was in the ER an d hooked up to an IV. The ER doc called in the OB - the second doctor that took a look at me asked when the last time I had used the restroom was.....needless to say a trip to the ladies room and I was back to my SGA status.
I am sure with all the US they are monitoring your fluid. Probably just a big boy!

I measured 31 weeks at 25 weeks this time around. But the baby--by ultrasound--is measuring right on. My midwife said the the uterine muscle itself is bigger and well-developed in grand multips.

That's it, Elizabeth - we have well-developed uterine muscles. Who needs "Abs of Steel"? We're super moms! We're GRAND! I like that.
Our babe is measuring (by u/s) right on, too. I guess my main concern was the possibility of having too much fluid, and what that might portend. The fluid level at my last u/s was right on, though. My mw isn't concerned at this point, so I guess we'll just watch.
Blessings,

My sister-in-law fitness buff informed the rest of us that her goal for the summer was six-pack-abs. My other, more grounded and pregnant SIL, chimed in that she was working on a keg! I will have to tell her about her well developed uterine muscles!
Thanks for the laugh.
