Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi all, sorry I've been away awhile--I really had to reprioritize my computer time. You all are in my prayers.

Will you please pray for my parents today? My dad, Jack, is having his PET scan at 8:30am eastern time to see if the treatments for his third recurrence of lymphoma were effective. Please pray for miraculous complete healing, or peace with the outcome.

May I please ask for prayers for myself as well? We recently switched insurance (2 months ago) and it has a 6 month waiting period for maternity. This was our first forray into NFP and I'm terrified at the moment that I'm pregnant. I'm literally shaking. As much as I would LOVE a new baby, an uninsured pregnancy and c-section delivery would be $10-$15K. We're following the most conservative rules with the charting, but God may have had something else in mind for us. I haven't even said anything to dh yet, because I don't want to stress him out about the $$ unnecessarily. He'd love the baby news, but the $$ would hit us like a brick. God's will be done...

Praying! If you do happen to become pregnant without insurance coverage, I know several states have programs that you can tap into for care. I don't know how much they cover, or how it would work if you have insurance just not maternity coverage, but it might be worth looking into. I'm sure someone else on the board would know more!

Molly,
Been there, done that, not with a c-section though. The day the test turned pink, even before I told my husband,I got a "job" tutoring a young hotshot from DC United through high school--that year,it paid exactly the cost of Nicholas' birth, within seven dollars. And the tutoring "job" (aka Bobby Convey) turned out to be one of the family over the next three years. He is the boggest brother of all and it was he who drove all the other kids to the hospital when the last baby was born!God had a plan and it was very good. I'm praying for you.

UPDATES:

My dad just called with the results of his scan. Good and bad news. The good news is that no new cancers have appeared--we're still just dealing with lymphoma. Bad news is that they lymphoma is still present. We'll wait three months and test again and then resume treatments. He says to please keep him on the prayer list!

Also, I'm not expecting. I spent a few days agonizing over how to pay for an uninsured pregnancy, and I even made a plan (!) and I was getting excited! But, it was obvious a few days later that I was not pregnant. I'm relieved and disappointed...be careful what you pray for...

Thank you all for your prayers. I hate to be away from the boards, but I've been following wise Leonie's advice to spend time with my children not just when they call for me or "need" me, but proactively (sorry, Leonie, for paraphrasing, I can't remember the exact quote but the sentiment has stuck with me). Life is good, but computer time is short. I pray for you all and your intentions. Please keep my dad in your prayers.

Molly,

I'm praying, too...I'm sure you're worried about your father, but not having a financial stress right now is probably a good thing. God knows what we need. I'm sure you're doing the right thing right now by limiting computer time, especially as your family deals with your father's health issues. Your children really do need you now, and they need your honest and loving attention. I'm guessing they sense your worry and want to help you, but also need your love and help.

Lots of prayers headed your way!

Praying with you, Molly. May St. Peregrine intercede for your father's healing.
