...whose family needs down time before starting school? That, after busy weekends, need Monday to relax and re-coup?
We are supposed to start school today and I am trying to feel better about-dd playing kitchen happily and ds in bed reading a(somewhat twaddly)book. And it is 11:15! And I am just enjoying quiet and trying to clean up and organize a little, in between buying and ordering food at dd's kitchen.
On Mondays my kids are so tired and wired from running
I can't do anything with them until after lunch. We usually take Thursdays off so my 4 day school week turns into a 3 day week.
I just want to know I am not the only one sturggling with this..please?

Well, we had to take most of last week off because of my issues with the baby...not as easy to supervise from my couch here...turned the wrong direction..
So we're getting started today. I pretty much let things go to pot last week/over the weekend, and DH is, honestly, little to no help in that regard. So we had MASSIVE morning chores to do, and we're just NOW trying to find the pencils (with erasers--apparently we have plenty without!), and get started. Oldest dd is trying to find her LA work from last week, which she needs to continue her work now...since she didn't finish last week. The boys are asleep, I need a shower DESPERATELY, DH is sleeping off his night shift, and my four yr old is having a campout in her bedroom with Raccoony and Pinky Pie (a stuffed raccoon and a stuffed pink cat that belongs to my 6 yo).
SIGH.
Better go get the laundry going, the dishwasher going, and me into the shower before all heck breaks loose.

You know, I think you have hit on something major! Monday always sneaks up on me and is usually a disaster. My good friend Aggie Gal does her running around and planning on Monday. I am thinking that perhaps I should institute that policy. In past years we took off Friday for a co-op but we aren't doing that this year.
thanks for the "ah-ha!" moment!

Ha! I was just fixin' to reply that we finish up last minute weekly plans and do the running around on Mondays, but you beat me to the punch, Miss Molly.
We rarely see dh during the week, especially with his job now, so weekends are filled with lots of packed family activities. All of us seem to do better with a more gentle start to the week, so we're still doing a pretty easy Monday. However, there was more than a time or two last year when we ended up blowing off a Friday as well, making our school week 3 days. Hopefully I'll be more careful about that this year.
Sure do miss you and your clan, Miss Molly!

Mondays are typically slow-start days for us, which is fine with me, actually. I like easing into my week.

Mondays are usually a very busy day for dh with ebay, since Sunday and Monday orders must be packed. I used to try and do the Meijer (grocery) thing, but the store is always still recovering from the weekend and is not fully restocked.
We start Naturalist Science classes in a week on Mondays, then coop on Tuesdays and host Montessori at the house (for 5 hours ) on Wednesday, so if I'm not careful I'll have a 2 day school week! Yes, we do school on Saturday sometimes, but there are a lot of Saturday Cub Scout activities coming up!
Oh, and Amy, what is someone from New Jersey doing saying "I'm fixin' to.." Isn't that a Texas thing?

Ack! I'm caught. I'm not technically from NJ. We're just stationed here at present moment. I'm a born and raised Texan, married to active duty USAF.

I think "fixin' to" is a southern thing. Shoot, I was fixin to holler at my oldest, but since she's finally getting her act in gear, well, I guess I'll hold off for now...

LOL, "fixin' to" is definitely a SOuthern thing. Just like my dh teases me when I say "I'm going on the truck" (driving the truck as opposed to the van). He says, ''Don't fall off!"
:-)

I am so happy this year that coop switched to Mondays! We go to Mass, then the library, then coop and that's it for Monday. After coop the kids veg and I do chores.
I am awful on Mondays. I have to get up with my oldest at 5 to get him to school. I always feel rushed on Mon. Then tired and cranky the rest of the day.
