Okay, I'll bite the bullet and do it, since no one else seems to have the guts.

I'll admit that I did terribly in August, but after this past Sunday's reading I can't help but challenge myself once again:

Romans 12:1 - I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Therefore,as an added effort to deal with my sloth, I will do something active everyday in September. I think this is a goal I can actually achieve.

So, anyone else up to it?

How about I will eat at least half a cup of vegetables classified as leafy greens each day? Unfortunately, I didn't get anywhere near achieving that goal during my pregnancy, even after the early aversions went away.

Our next-door neighbor brought dinner tonight and I didn't think of measuring what I ate, but my husband estimates I've had 1/3 cup of what looked like romaine lettuce in the salad. But he's going to cook some broccoli so I can meet my goal and I'll total 5/6 cup leafy greens for today.

Well, Theresa, smother that romaine lettuce in Caesar dressing and it goes right down!

Or maybe I should revise my ideas as what qualifies for healthy?

Well, I'm doing well for the month of September! (Don't remind me that we are only one day in.) I went running this evening for eight cycles of run 60 sec, walk 90 sec. And I wasn't even very winded! I even think I'll try running again, for longer soon. While I was running, I prayed a rosary for you, even if you didn't post to this September challenge.

does going out in the dark and cover the garden with plastic count for exercise? bricks to weigh down the corners and in the dark it's move the plastic, move the light, move the plastic, check that you actually covered the plants with the light, put bricks on the plastic.. etc

gotta remember to do that when it's light.

I may be doing this frequently.. not to mention uncovering it in the morning though I take a helper to fold with.

I'll have to think what goals I actually want to work at this month..

certainly I need to keep up on the vitamins

Even after failing miserably in Aug, I, too, am in for September.

Goal - find a workout DVD that I love and exercise daily!

I didn't do very well in August either. This morning ds8 and I walked for about 45 minutes, then did a few (10) push ups and sit ups. I am going to work hard to get some sort of exercise in everyday. I hope (can't even say plan) to walk twice a day, it will be good for our dog too.

My motivation.....less than 100 days until dh returns, I would like to be in a better shape.

I read what you all are working on and just think, oh I need to do that too. So I'll work on taking vitamins, drinking more water, adding in more veggies and not eating out.

I've recently added V8 juice to my list of must-consume food items. I just can't bring myself to eat that many veggies every day and I love all tomato-flavored foods, so I decided I could drink my veggie servings. My kids think this plan is . My dh suggested I buy low-sodium V8 and I can't tell the difference between it and the high-test version.

My dh is getting ready to leave for a 2 1/2 month class (he can come home most weekends) and so I really, really need to be good about not eating pasta for dinner every single day, which is what we usually do when he's gone. Not eating in front of the TV is another goal (again, a not-so-good habit when dh is away).

Trying to eat regularly and healthfully, and to take vitamins regularly. The idea here is that if I do these things, I'll crave junk less and feel better overall. Feeling better/more energetic will make regular exercise less moan-inducing. Well, it's a thought....

Peace,
Nancy

I'm in.

My goals:
drink more water
exercise 4-5 times a week-alternate between treadmill and walking?
start a food journal to see what I am eating-maybe if I have to write it down I'll think abut it BEFORE I snack!

so far-have done the treadmill for 2 miles the last 2 days. Have drank more water but still not enough and started on food journal.

I'm soooooo in! Yesterday, I walked on the treadmill for 1 hour (I did 3 twenty minute miles which I think is pretty good!) and plan to walk again today, but I am adding to that the plan to do one extra thing every day besides normal routine stuff like laundry and dishes. Yesterday, I cleaned out our monthly payables file crate and today, I am cleaning out our large filing cabinet. Thanks for the inspiration!

I'm in, and your goal is my goal. I've just finished 20 minutes on the elliptical for today.

And I'm going to drink more water.

I'm in.

I need to decrease my coffee intake to one cup a day. (I think that contributed to no weight loss last month...I gave up Pepsi and increased my intake of sugary coffee.)

Workout to DVDs -- Find the DVDs mentioned in last months challenge

EAT! Yes, eat. I usaully skip breakfast and lunch for those sugary cups of coffee.

Drink more water.

I actually don't like salad dressing very much. I have never even tried Caesar. Does that have raw eggs in it in its traditional form?

But I know it's supposed to be important for absorption to have fats with salad greens. When I put dressing on it takes me so long to eat it, I just don't like having too much "glop" or oily stuff in my mouth at once. I am guessing the other fat in a meal would be about as good for absorption as the fat directly on the greens? But I usually feel so hungry before and full enough after a meal that I am reluctant to make my way through a plain bowl of greens, let alone to spend the time working my way through a bowl of oily/gloppy ones. But I am going to try to get some leafy greens daily where possible, whether salad-type or others.

Theresa - You have me cracking up! I am such a picky eater (read: in a VERY whiney voice: "I don't like that; it has grassy stuff in it"), but I don't really have a problem with some green things, such as romaine lettuce (usually with Italian, Caesar or Ranch,) peas, green beans... How about a quiche in the morning with either broccoli or spinach? Oh, and I am embarrassed to say, but I have never even thought about what's in Caesar dressing. Also, I love the excuse of needing fats with your vegs! Bacon or butter with my green beans, dressing with my salad; I thought it just negated the healthiness, but now I see it enhances it!!!

Today I walked about a mile. My jog yesterday may not have winded me, but my backside is a little sore today.

I should probably join Michaela, Patty, and Tracy M in drinking more water, but my dad left me with three 12 packs of soda and I can't seem to resist. This is why I don't buy them. He left yesterday and I have already polished off one of the 12 packs.

So, Keep up the great work ladies! Two days down!!! We're 6 percent of the way there!

Joining in late, but better than never. My goals will be:
--do something active each day (today we went on a 2km hike).
--drink coffee only on sundays. (I've actually been doing this for about a month now and I feel 100 times better.)
