Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are planning a trip to Mass. in a couple of weeks and were planning to visit Plimoth Plantation.

I was looking at their website yesterday to make more detailed plans and I was very discouraged by what I saw. It seems as though there is a bit of rewriting of history going on. This doesn't totally surprise me as we came across a book last year that was called "1621: A New Look at Thanksgiving" and it put a new spin on the pilgrims - now called colonists and on Thanksgiving as well. (I may mention that I grew up about 30 minutes from PP and went there several times as a child and so this is all a stark difference from what I remember).

The worst part was on the front page of their website, under upcoming events is "Out at Plimoth Plantation" which highlights special events and discounts for the GLBT community. This will be held the week that we will be visiting.

Has anyone been lately? Is it worth going anymore? I'm not interested in a revisionist approach to history and I'm not interested in scandalizing my daughter by visiting. I'm hoping that someone has been there recently and can report that it is still a great living history and not at all the disappointment that the website presents.

Well, I was there two years ago and thought it was great. All the English Village reenactors talked about things I knew to be very historically accurate, in some cases quoting directly from diaries and letters of the time. It was one of my favorite visits to a living history museum, ever, and I've been to quite a few in the US and Canada.

I would not be happy to go during a GLBT week, though. Definitely not!

I was there this past May and thought it was wonderful. I didn't notice anything out of historical context and my husband would've pointed it out to me. The people were fantastic.

What is GLBT?

Diana -

We'll be heading to PP within the next two weeks. Have you made your journey yet?

I pray it was an awesome adventure!
