Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Do you attend local homeschool support-group meetings (Catholic or Christian ones)? If so, what do your meetings consist of? Do you have monthly topics, guest speakers, or themes that you follow?

Thanks in advance!

I attend a monthly meeting at the home of a lovely hostess. We generally meet every month (summer included). We decide on a topic for the next month at the close of our meeting which runs from 7-9 pm.

The meeting is very light as far as hospitality is concerned. Lisa keeps a lovely and inviting home at all times and there is usually ice water or tea to drink. Sometimes we have a snack (muffins, cookies or a bowl of candy) and sometimes we don't.

Our meeting usually opens with any new info. in regards to other meetings around the area or up coming field trips. We do introductions when we have a new lady attend (as we did tonight) Our discussion tonight centered on things we are excited about the up-coming school year and there were a couple of us who brought our home made spiral bound planners so those were passed around as well.

Next month our topics are

Nature study
Music/Artist study
Easy snacks and lunches.

We've done a recipe swap before and have covered a wide range of homeschooling topics. This year we are hoping to expand our discussions to things that pertain to the homeschooling mother... Keeping the home, home made cleaning products, organic food, Bible study, etc.

Sometimes we get to the planned topics and sometimes we don't. We usually set two different topic areas and we've been known to spend the entire two hours just going through one. In that case we carry the topic that we didn't get to, to the next month.
