Not sure if this is the right place for this, but does anyone have a master packing list for camping? We are going on a "Not Back to School" camp out in 2 weeks and we have never been camping as a family before so we are starting from scratch. I would love to have a tried and true list to make sure that we are not forgetting any essentials. Thanks!
Blessings,
Bets

You should contact the campground you will be staying at for their regulations. Here in MN if you stay at a State Park campground you can't bring your own firewood. You also can't collect any dead branches, etc. You have to buy the firewood from them.

Yeah. In Michigan, you can transport firewood across county lines. That's a bummer because we have plenty of already-paid-for firewood here at home!

Just packing for our trip here- but we are going in canoes so that limits the packing. But my, the hardest part is the food!!! Make sure you bring a needle and thread and some duct tape (invaluable in tent ripping repairs- learned the hard way after a night of many, many mosquitos!)

We just returned from two weeks of camping - my list looks very similar to Jodie's.
We use a "footprint" under our tent - we cut plastic sheeting to the shape of our tent - it goes under the tent on the ground to help with moisture.
We also bring a hand broom and dustpan - we camp near the coast so every couple of days I like to sweep out the grit.
I love a container of Clorox Wipes - great for wiping down the vinyl tablecloth and wiping out our wash basins. I also give the tent floor a good wipe before we take it down (make sure everything is dry).
For the first aid kit - I love those Johnson's disposable baby washcloths - they are great for washing up cuts and skinned knees when you don't have immediate access to a sink. I cut off a half or quarter of a square.
And large quantities of baby wipes! (And we are well past baby days).
For our big trips I also have a "Bike" section and a "Kayak" section, and a "Beach" section on our list-
And of course when I did our packing this year - do you think I could find my wonderful camping list??? Of course not!
Have a great trip! We started camping about 4yrs ago and we love it! We would ask for camping gear for Christmas and birthdays and have a nice set up now including these.
My children love these things! And their color coordinated marshmallow fork.

donna.. the reason I can find mine (and the reason it was easy to post) was that I keep it in my email draft folder
