Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We need some suggestions. We had hoped to use the new The Colors series from Dr. Durrell Dobbins and Beginnings Publishing but it is apparently delayed until Spring 2009. We do nature study and will continue that but one daughter, the girls are almost 10 and 11, wants to Science. This is our first year out of the traditional classroom.

Thank you,
Kate

Well, we are in the same boat! My oldest, age 12, is doing Dr. Durrell Dobbins' Rainbow curriculum for middle schoolers. We were hoping that her younger sister, age 10, could do The Colors. We were very disappointed when we received the letter stating that our order was delayed until spring.

With some sense of urgency, I looked around at my school supply materials to see what I could use to piece together a science program. I didn't want to order anything else new. I decided to use Lyrical Life Science, Volumes 1-3 (text, CD, and workbook) which had just been gathering dust on my book shelf. They look like fun! I think she'll be able to do it pretty much independently (which was the appeal to me with The Colors). And I'll have her help read some science books to her younger brothers as well. (We are following CHC's "Easy As 1,2,3" with them.)

So that's our solution for now. I'm still very eager for The Colors to arrive.
