Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

As many of you know, dh is helping to start up a new diocesan high school here in Virginia. Pope John Paul the Great Catholic High School will be the first Catholic high school in the US that integrates bioethics throughout the four-years of high school. We're starting small -- just 200 students -- with 9th and 10th grade but will max out with 9th-12th grade and 1000 students over the next few years.

The faculty is amazing with a great mix of experienced teachers and brand-new on-fire "kids" who want to teach the Truth, the Magisterium, and their love of the Catholic Church.

The librarian, Cynthia Trax, who is also a Montessori teacher-of-teachers (and will be teaching art to the high schoolers with in a Montessori style -- can't wait to pick her brain on that!), has asked for donations of either books or Amazon gift cards. The gift cards can be done in her name and will be used to buy many needed books for the library -- right now, she has about 2000 volumes for the 30K volume capacity. If you'd like to help out, either email Cynthia directly (at c dot trax at jpthegreat dot org) or pm me and I can steer you in the right direction.

I hope no one minds my posting this -- it is just a cause that is so near and dear to us ... love of books, libraries and the Cahtolic church ... that I hope you don't mind.

BTW, for those who watched the Pope's visit to DC in April -- the cornerstone and tabernacle that he blessed during the Mass at the Nationals Stadium was for JP the Great! The Bishop will consecrate the school's chapel Saturday and then bless the opening of the building in a big party/hoopla on Sunday, August 17th starting at 2pm.
