Some of you may have noticed at WPTTL that my dh and 2 oldest sons traveled to Boston yesterday for a business/baseball/fun trip. The highlight is that they have tickets for Fenway tomorrow night and old Yankee Stadium Saturday afternoon. Well....
I just got off the phone with my almost 13yo ds. Here's the conversation:
"Hi Mom, guess where I am?"
I give up.
"We're at Fenway!"
Wow, how did that happen? Your tickets are for tomorrow night."
"I was buying a shirt at a store and the guy had 3 extra tickets and gave them to me!"
Get out of town!
"Mom, can you hold on a minute, more people want to take our picture."
Sure....why are you having your picture taken?
"Because we are wearing our Dback stuff so people have been taking our pictures."
You're all celebrities.
"Guess who just struck out."
Tell me.
"Josh Hamilton" (He's one of our favorite players. We think he and his recovery story are awesome!)
"Oh, and guess where our seats are?"
I give up.
"Second row, Center field!"
WOW!!! Are you taking pictures?
"Ya, Dad made me give him back the camera."
ha ha ha
"And guess who is playing, Center?"
Don't know.
"Josh Hamilton! So, how are you doing?"
Not as good as you are, son, ha ha ha.
"That's great...I've got to go...call you later...love you...bye!"
God is so good!

Isn't this fun! The Red Sox went onto win, 8-4 and my men are besides themselves with Sox joy  . As I type, they are at the game they had planned to attend and the Red Sox have scored 9 in the bottom of the second...looking like another great night!

Ladies, thank you so much for enjoying this adventure with me. Here's more...
The second BoSox game didn't have batting practice prior to start because of rain. My men were disappointed because they hoped to get a ball. They went to the Sox bullpen which was swamped with fans (three rows deep.) As the pitcher finished, he tossed his last ball. It was headed toward a young twenty something man. As a swarm of people reached for the ball, my dh describes:
"I saw Ian was a good distance from the ball. I was several rows back and looked to the guy it was going straight to. Then it was like slow-motion...I saw this skinny arm with a glove cut up inches in front of the guy and snatch the ball. It was Ian! I cracked up laughing at his amazing catch, then I realized that the guy was mad, being beat by a kid! Ian looked at me, didn't flaunt the ball, and I yelled, 'Time to go,' and we did! We walked as fast as we could outa there to avoid any possible encounter."
Yep, my men are willing to risk life and limb for a baseball...and a great story  .

MacBeth, I'm growing concerned that Ian isn't going to come home...that he's going to join a family who is smart enough to live in Boston! He does have the Irish and east coast blood in him  . He told me that *everyone* in Boston is a Sox fan and that *everywhere* you go is Sox stuff...well except for Church "which is fine because the Church ( St. Leonard parish) is beauuuuuuuuuuutiful and the priest is awesome!" Awwwwwwwwww, my men chatting with a priest while on vacation makes me happy!
