Does anyone know how to make all natural blue food coloring? I was wanting to color icing for a cake. I can buy it but it is a little pricey. TIA, Valerie

how deep of blue are you wanting? I've had luck making blue and pink for baby showers (well, the "blue" was a little purplish) by boiling down raspberries and blueberries.

I'm hoping for at least a baby blue (light blue). It's for the Feast of the Assumption. Valerie

Red cabbage produces blue - not terribly dark, and a little on the robin's egg side. Very pretty. Boil it down with enough water to cover and use the liquor to colour. I like the idea of the berries better. Lots more palatable, no?

Mmmmm, what flavour icing is this?

It's um, cabbage. ROFL!

Blessings,

I would definitely try blueberries... those things stain like mischief!! And they taste good .
I'm guessing you'd do as Milehimama says and boil down the berries to make it into a syrup, strain, add to the dry confectioners sugar, then add the other ingredients to get the appropriate consistency...
